Books there are thousands of um, but you still gonna need to find a partner or practice with a heavy bag on the floor but nothing beats doing the real deal.

Martial Arts for Dummies

NO WAY. The only way to learn any type of martial art is through repetition. You must practice the move on a dummy thousands of times before you master that skill. It may be possible to train by shadow fighting (imagining as you’re fighting) but you still couldn’t do that without being coached how to go about it. Definitely seek some sort of mentor if you want to be any good.

Instructional videos would help.
That’s how Rich Franklin got started.

you can’t, because you need sparing partner so you can practice your moves.

Not very well. As someone said MMA or any advanced skill set is based on repetitions, which cannot be practiced in a vacuum.

After many years of fighting in many different styles I have learned the several things
#1 If you are not fighting ( sparing at least 4 times a week you start to lose ground) things speed up like fist and kicks. You can’t see them . It is the opposite of riding a bike.
and
#2 and most Important , I have NO IDEA who can kick my ass.
You can train at home and have fun but if you run into anyone with skills that has trained in MMA you will either be out on your feet or choked out within 5 seconds.
Try talking or if it’s a fat guy run until he falls down.

You can condition for MMA like doing cardio, lifting weights, work on your flexibility, hit a heavy bag. But thats about it, the rest you will need a training partner in order learn any thing. Then go to a school or gym where an instructor can properly teach you.
