Victor Z asked:

I want to show this guy what MMA is all about…Anybody know some quick moves that can surprise him and end this match quickly? I want him to really be embaressed…(this guy was talking a lot of trash and disrespects mixed martial arts training, calling it common sense)

Just stay and fight with him. Ending it quickly won’t make it clear that you are better to him, it will just make him think that you got lucky. Standing and defending against whatever he throws, and then taking him to bits shows you are better much more effectively.

Like one of the other guys said, toying around with him and showing him you are superior would be more convincing, but it sounds like you need self defense advice more than MMA advice.

You probably want to throw elbows and knees to the face, and try to knock him out as soon as possible. If it goes to the ground, try to mount and ground and pound. Choke him out as a 2nd option. If you end up standing and he’s on the ground, stay away from his feet, and kick him in the face.

Good luck.

Tip? Train with different people. If you know mixed martial art.. you shouldn’t ask this question.

Sometimes beginners in martial arts are a little over excited about their new skills and knowledge and have an unrealistic view of things and lack experience. They usually learn at some point and tone it down which may be the case with this guy. Usually they know just enough to hurt someone that has no training at all or is not very tough. Their basic skills and lack of experience pretty much limit them beyond that until it and their training grows over time. However, if you have to ask that question here then my money is on the rookie.

Umm… shouldn’t you know what MMA is all about first?

If you want him to know what MMA is all about how bout you actually take him (and yourself) to a MMA gym and ask to roll or spar with someone.

Or how about not even that, just come in for 1 class. When you both are puking and laying on the ground in exhaustion you two can get an idea of what MMA is all about.

Personally I find that way more humbling to newbies than any technique. I just let them go through one round of a station circuit with us, when they are on the ground crying I can’t do no more I have them watch our girls and younger kids go through 3 more rounds before a break, then watch our fighters go through 5, five minute rounds of the circuit, then start sparring…

It’s actually a really good way to shut people up, being that they are busy puking or laying on the ground quitting on themselves.

If you had any training to speak of then why do you have to ask us here? The post suggesting it sounds more like a self defense question sounds pretty accurate to me.

If you want to show anyone what any martial art is about invite them to a class. Let them warm up and train with your fellow students. Either they put up or they shut up, there isn’t any in between. If they try saying anything after wards, they’ll be talking out their rear.

Grow up and worry about your own training, you seem to be missing the part about remaining humble.

Start out with basic jabs and leg kicks. Most people don’t realize how much leg kicks suck.

Just when he’s used to that, hit a takedown. Just use body shots for ground-and-pound. Again, they won’t finish him, they just suck.

Once you get a good top position, just control him. Don’t submit him. Let him try to escape and make him struggle. He’ll get frustrated and gas out pretty fast. To add to his discomfort, you can cross-face him and dig your elbows into his sternum.

Don’t finish him, just break his spirit. Make him give up by realizing he’s outclassed.

Alternately, you can just take him down and tap him out really quick. Rinse repeat ’til he realizes he doesn’t know anything about the ground game.

if you are train, dodge/block all his attacks so side step and send a bone crashing kick to head or elbow his chin up

Well Victor trash talk is constant beofre all MMA events yo. Hence When the Cage Locks …. The Bullsh*t stops — a little line made famous by Warrior Fighting Challenge in Kentucky. Sounds like to me though that the dude you’re fighting is a Independent Fighter and they never fair too well in the cage man. Just stick to what you know and the technique you’ve learned and trust and you’ll be fine. Independent Fighters are just street fighters that think they know what it’s all about and usually they just want to prove that they have brass enough to get into the cage win or lose. I wouldn’t under estimate the dude, but I’d rely on my technique and skill if I were you. Test his stand up with some solid thigh kicks and see if you can buckle a knee real quick, see how well his chin can take a solid hook, overhand, cross or striaght punch and if he can stand up to that go ahead and test him on the ground. Most Independent Fighters are like turtles on their backs man. The take downs you pull off against him should be amazingly easy as Independent Fighters have absolutely no sprawl or take down defense what so ever. Should be eaier for you than you even think.

Good Luck
