Mixed Martial Arts
Cardio King asked:

Part of me says it’s evil and has no respect, and the other part of me says it’s competition and they do have talent. Personally, I’d prefer boxing or jujitsu, but anyways I’d like to see the arguments the answerers bring to the table.

Sanctioned fights with rules i think should be seen like any other sport. But unsanctioned or underground ones are brutal and yes they do resemble human cock fighting.

Not a chance.
#1 The fighters have a choice about being involved
#2 Both the winner and loser live to fight again
#3 MMA fighting is a sport, cock fighting is just cruel
#4 MMA fighters fight for money, Cocks fight for their lives and bird seed

The bottom line is that MMA is a sport, the competitors dedicate their lives to getting beter at their craft, and in comparisson to boxing it is safer. Boxing has had more deaths, and boxing tends to have more long term health reprecussions. True a MMA Punch or Kick may do more damage in a single shot, but a boxer may take over 400 shots to the head in a given fight, and do so for years. The volume of shots a MMA fighter absorbs is nowhere near what a boxer takes. MMA is testing styles of Mixed Martial Arts against one another (while factoring in a fighters skill and natural ability). Where as any kind of animal fighting is just cruel as the animals are killed in savage fashion for someones entertainment.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not some PETA guy (I can’t stand them) I just don’t think fighting animals is sport, and alot of that boils down to breeding.

That statement is ridiculous. Cock Fighting? MMA fighters train just like boxers or any other sport for that matter. In fact they have to train for boxing, jujitsu, wrestling. No ones fighting till the death. There ’s rules just like any other sport to protect the fighters. Also theres been studies shown that boxers have more later life problems then mma fighters.

Absolutely it is. I mean fighters are starved before the fights, thrown into the cage with no choice, and are killed if they lose. It’s exactly the same.

Wait, you like boxing but think MMA is evil? I don’t understand people like you. You’re cool with watching people beat each other to death but a little bit of blood is to violent?

Face it, boxing is just as brutal if not more especially when you got a couple of boxers who slug each other for 12 rounds and never go down, it causes the brain to swell. I think prize fighting is barbaric, but I like to watch so I guess I’m guilty. It brings out the best and worst in each man, but that’s what life is about I guess. What I don’t like is the disrespect, the trash talking, and the crowd booing, those are things I could do without and when they do it, it ruins the sport for me. But remember these guys are prize fighters and not rocket scientists, so they make a better living then they could doing anyting else probably.

There are more serious injurys in football or soccer or boxing and even in judo competitions than MMA.
By injuries I mean serious stuff not a few bruised cheeks or cut lips or a broken nose.
You see fewer of those injurys in football soccer or boxing or judo competition.

The human cock fighthas been used to describe every contest that allows striking .If you did away with the rules that would apply .

Have you ever been to a c0ckfight? I have, I grew up in the Philippines where c0ckfights are legal and a regular activity during town fiestas and special events, I have uncles who raise fighting c0cks, so I know the culture. And the MMA fights are nothing like c0ckfighting. First of all, the MMA fighters do not wear sharpened spurs on their leg with which to disembowel their opponents with. Secondly, the moment a fighter is incapacitated or in danger of being seriously injured, the referee stops the fight. In a c0ckfight, the match is not over until one or both c0cks are either dead or unable to peck the other. And lastly, the losing MMA fighter gets to fight another day, unlike the losing rooster which becomes the winning c0ck owner’s dinner trophy. So comparing MMA fights to a c0ckfight is absurd in my opinion.
