Unless you have fought or trained fighters to compete in the top echelon of this sport your chance of turning a profit are pretty slim, you may eke out a living but that is all.The margin top rank fighters make is very high especially if you gain the top sponsorship deals.
What is your MMA record? or what MMA skills can you teach?
high risk and low payout. there’s a reason why local cage fighting are just local.
I’ve seen a few talented ex-fighters from the neighborhood turn small-time entrepreneurs in the mixed martial arts scene. They work locally, are affiliated with (or own) training schools, are media friendly and a few of them even live down the street from me.
My brother is an extreme sports enthusiast and he’s working on similar lines to pursue his goals. I’m not sure of the profit potential as such, but I know there’s money to be made here (partly because MMA is not mainstream like NFL or NBA, so the growth potential is huge). Check out the Big MMA Money site for examples and ideas. It exposes the opportunities of a mixed martial arts business in more detail.
Not good. Most MMA organizations fail.Even Chuck Norris’s World Combat League failed despite putting his own money up to keep it running.
MMA is not really well known among the general public like WWE and Boxing. The UFC has been surviving, but is in no way competitive in profit or salaries to both the former and latter.
Someone needs to come up with a winning formula to win over mainstream. Maybe getting rid of elbows? Require a certain number of kicks or throws, and break up clinches faster to increase excitement? Enact a standing 8 count? Allow GIs?
