You must be kidding!!!
Just a short time ago they took the game of Tag out of schools.(made some kids feel singled out)
Just prior to that they took out Kick-Ball,because they considered it Too Violent!!!!!
The extreme Left, (Hyper-Liberal), people are running
schools nation wide.
Don’t you remember the No kid left behind program???
They pass kids with failing grades rather than hurt their feelings!
And You wonder why MMA is not allowed in schools????????
Are you nuts?
i’m not sure about a link but i’m sure i can give you an idea why. MMA isn’t just a sport, it’s a full contact combat sport. You’ll never see it in schools.
It also promotes aggressive tendencys in people who are prone to violence .It has no ethics except beat the crap out of someone.
Has great appeal to the juvenile bullshit hi testosterone immature naive jerks to stupid to consider the real consequences of such behavior.
They fail to realize that the sport is practiced by mature adults who know the cost of time in jail in courts and lawsuits possible for acting like a macho asshole and not forgetting the guy who will come back with a gun and kill you.
To the people above:
That’s the worst excuse I’ve heard.
Because it promotes violence and aggressiveness?
How about football?
I know my coaches favor more aggressive players than others.
The players, coaches, and the crowd likes it when some one tackles some one extremely hard.
Isn’t that promoting violence and aggressiveness?
How about do some research on different martial arts, and then explain that it is the American public that is afraid of the unknown, and the difference in culture… Your sure to get an A…. look up Muay Thai kids there start training at the age of 5-7 an start fighting professionally as young as 8-10, get into the history of a few different Martial Arts (MMA is mixed Martial Arts) and try to show them in a positive light to the American culture Such as the 5 rules of Wa Rang Do the so called beginning of modern TKD … Be obedient to your parents.. be honorable to your friends… be loyal to your king (president)… never retreat in battle (stand up for what you think is right)… and always make a sensible kill… (in today’s society… pick and choose your battles)…. And maybe if the American culture would put that much respect towards fighting, maybe we would have less fights… Use that angle, and even if you teacher doesn’t agree with you…. he/she will be able to undersand where you are coming from..
First of all, you could interview your principal and some other administrators and coaches at your school to get their opinions about this. Then you can quote and paraphrase them in your report and list them as specific sources in your end notes. Personally conducted interviews with professional experts in a field are a much more valid source for a research paper than internet sites. Your writing teacher is obviously incompetent if you can only think of googling when trying to research a report.
I would agree that watching MMA probably does have a negative influence on young men in our society, but that is because we have a seriously screwed up society with very little decent parenting and adult influence available to young people, and even less decent male influence. From reading some of the idiotic comments people make here and on other forums about the UFC, it is obvious that for many of the new-age MMA fans, UFC fighting is just another outlet for their immature tough-guy fantasies. I don’t blame the UFC for that, anymore than I blame a band like TOOL or Rage Against the Machine for having meat-head fans. We have an entire culture that creates idiotic meat heads.
But I also believe that actual, serious MMA training with responsible coaches would definitely lower incidences of stupid, aggressive testosterone-fueled adolescent male behavior. For one thing, the kind of wannabe tough guys who like to fantasize about fighting would get a nice, humbling reality check when they gassed out the first time they did a five minute round on the pads. At the same time, actually training and developing skills would create the sort of self-confidence that would make over-aggressive meat-head behavior less likely. I hope the building popularity of MMA will lead more people to take up actual training, instead of just sitting on their asses in front of the computer spewing nonsense about how so and so’s a sissy because he lost a fight to so and so. But it seems unlikely, considering how mentally and physically weak your average modern American is.
Obviously public schools can’t sanction full contact combat sports, but wrestling is a good alternative. You get a chance to be pretty rough and rude when you wrestle, but you have to become very self-disciplined and mentally strong, too. When I was in high school, the wrestling team used to attract quite a few of the rowdiest boys, but it did keep us out of trouble, more or less, for at least a good part of the school year.
