What would happen to a professional body builder in a mixed martial arts fight?

OK asked:

They would have lots of strength, but they would be slow, inflexible and wouldn’t have the cardiovascular abilities of a regular mixed martial artist fighter. What would happen to them? How long would the fight last?

The mixed martial artist would definitely win- the body builder has muscles but the martial artist has skill, technique, and secret ways of defeating the opponent…

i think they could win if the body builder could get a good hold on the other person. Then thay’d probably just have to just beat the shit out of them

The fight would last only a few seconds, maybe a full minute, if the bodybuilder can dodge the MMA fighter. Once the MMA guy gets a hold of the looks only bodybuilder……he would be pummeled into submission. It’s really no match!

He would be KO or choked-out in a few seconds. Having strength means nothing if he doesn’t have fighting skills.

Also, body builders don’t have true strength. They just do body building exercises, which are special for aesthetics and only for aesthetics, just for good-looking big muscles. Body builders will never have the half of strength that weight-lifters have.

With no true strength and no fighting skills, just imagine what would happen to them…

Body builder wouldn’t even make it to the second round. The fight would be over in less than a minute. People that do not train in MMA or does any other kind of fighting are unskilled and easy to beat especially if you are talking pound for pound.

Body builders are incredibly strong. Muscle is muscle. True they are not quite as strong as power lifters, but Arnold could bench press 500 pounds in his Mr. Universe days, which made him stronger than 99.999% of people on earth!

That said, a body builder would lose immediately to a professional mma fighter in the same weight class!

Wrong to all who thinks they’re strong, muscle ISN’T muscle. It’s just empty meat with no strength.
First of all, a BB would never be assigned to an MMA fight. There would be weightclasses and his opponent in his weightclass would be a lot stronger than the BB (bodybuilder) due to their different training methods.
I’ve seen pretty flexible BB’s, though. They need to stretch a lot to get long, lean muscles.
And also, since they constantly need to stay in shape and keep their body fat low they would probably be doing a lot of conditioning work and have a decent cardio.
The MMA guy is trained to fight and the BB is trained to look good. Enough said!
MMA wins, it’s their ground.

-edit-
The steroids would also DQ them from competition. BB’s are actually flexible, but that might depend on what weightclass they compete in and what size they are.

body builders usually tire out quickly and as you said arent flexible….also many body builders use steroids which puts an extreme amount of pressure on ligaments and tendons(muscle grows to fast and the ligaments and tendons cant grow as fast) so its easier to tear or pop one of them….in short theyd most likely get eaten up

They’d get knocked out in the first round.

The mixed martial artist would run away! Who would want to fight a guy wearing panties and coverd in oil???

Well, they also wouldn’t have the striking, wrestling, or submission skills as an MMA fighter. They’d lose in less than a minute. Cardio isn’t much of a factor in fights that short.
